In response to COVID-19, Hundreds of Original Projects for Employment (HOPE’87) has assisted Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Elementary & Secondary Education Department, National Commission for Human Development and Elementary & Secondary Education Foundation by training;
1. 11,578 Government Primary & Middle school teachers of districts Peshawar and Swat on Mental Health and Psycho Social Support (MHPSS), School Sanitation & Hygiene Education (SSHE), and SOPs for safe reopening of schools from 7th September, 2020 – 28th September, 2020.
2. 403 Elementary & Secondary Education Foundation (ESEF) Girls Community School (GCS) teachers of districts Peshawar, Swat and DI Khan on Mental Health and Psycho Social Support (MHPSS), School Sanitation & Hygiene Education (SSHE), and SOPs for safe reopening of schools from 24th September, 2020 – 30th September, 2020.
3. 520 National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) Community Feeder School Teachers across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Mental Health and Psycho Social Support (MHPSS), School Sanitation & Hygiene Education (SSHE), and SOPs for safe reopening of schools from 28th September, 2020 – 30th September, 2020.
4. The Training Manual on SOPs for Safe Re-opening of schools in response to COVID-19 was approved by Elementary and Secondary Education Department KP and Directorate of Curriculum & Teachers Education.
5. Teachers expressed increased levels of confidence on how to follow and implement the general, social distancing and WASH SOPs notified by Elementary and Secondary Education Department KP for all schools.
The activity was supported by European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) and Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) under the project “Access for out of school Children to Education and Safe Schools in Pakistan” .
